Providing Transcription Services For Micro Cassettes
It is recommended that microcassettes should only be used for dictations, transcriptions from microcassetes will be billed as Type-2 or Type-3 and charges will apply accordingly.
Audio quality in microcassettes is inferior to any other form of recording; it is advisable to use MP3 recorders if transcriptions are sought on regular basis.
However if microcassettes are used for recordings, please make note of these guidelines:
- Make use of an external microphone and attach it to the microcassette recorder. The micro cassette recorders have poor built in microphones.
- The recorder/microphone should be placed close to the person being interviewed.
- Recording should be in 2.4 fps mode and not in 1.2 fps mode, audio recorded in 1.2 fps is not transcribable.
- Recordings should be held in quiet locations.
When to avoid micro cassette recorders
If focus group or conference calls need to be recorded, use a standard recorder, a micro cassette recorder is not ideal equipment for such recordings
Hi – I am working for a multinational company for which we have to prepare Instructional Training Videos for our companies located in Asia and Africa, for all the videos that we send to our overseas companies, we have to attach transcripts of the video, I called transcriptionstar.com, I must say that I have a difficult accent, and for any transcription company it can be a challenging task, but this company made it look so easy man, they could follow my accent easily and were able to send me a perfect transcript."
